Kasia & Callan’s Melbourne Registry Elopement

Kasia & Callan had a clear vision from the start, keeping it elegant and simple so they can focus on what the day was about and celebrate with their absolute closest loved ones. It was great being able to say hi to everyone that attended and throw a wave to them all on the way out. Despite being winter and heading towards nighttime on a rainy day in Melbourne, their Registry wedding made me push myself creatively more than usual, so I could bring something different to the table photographically. I busted out some video lights, flashes and used whatever light we could find in the street. The magic was enhanced by the wet roads giving a cinematic feeling and the city that extra sparkle.

Tell me about the beginning!

Our first date was on Valentine's Day. What was supposed to be a quick coffee date turned into hours of strolling through the Warsaw Old Town and even a call from Kasia's mum who was concerned her daughter was staying out so late on a work day.

It was love at first sight for both of us (even though Callan was late because Google Maps sucks) and on our second date we learnt that we share birthday, although Callan is a year older. We even learnt that we had our first date at a cafe where Kasia's parents used to go on dates to.

When and where did you get engaged?

We got engaged in Mechelinki, a tiny town on the coast of Poland, on August 27th 2022. Mechelinki is a very special place for us - this is where we went for our first vacation and then every year since. Callan picked the perfect ring and organised a very sweet proposal on the beach. We were planning to go for dinner to one of our favourite local restaurants but it was completely booked out - we ended up finding an even better one by accident.

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day? Feel free to elaborate about your choices and venue.

We wanted it to be classy but not stuffy and intimate and full of love and celebrating with our loved ones. We decided on an intimate ceremony in the Old Treasury building followed by a dinner reception for our family and friends. We also wanted to include our family and heritage so Kasia will be wearing her mother's pearl necklace and her best friend's veil and our rings were ordered from a Polish jeweller who made our engagement ring.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Being married, hands down!

Top Tips!

1) Think about what you (as a couple) want from the day - do you want a big white wedding or a simple celebration? 2) Work together - it's not just the bride but the groom too! 3) At the end of the day, it's about your love and the marriage - don't sweat the small details.
