Jaimee & Alex’s Bulong Estate Winery Wedding

Back to Bulong Estate Winery for a beautiful and easy going wedding between Jaimee and Alex as the vineyards come back in full swing for spring.

Tell me about the beginning!

We met at work in Perth in 2010. A colleague was trying to set us up and whatever she did or said, it worked!

When and where did you get engaged?

It was 2018, we were living in Melbourne by this stage but Alex was working in WA on a fly in /fly out roster. On one of his weeks home, he suggested we head out of town for the weekend so I organised a little weekend away in the Mt Macedon area. One day we went for a stroll up Mt Macedon where he coaxed me off the trail to a little secluded lookout where he dropped to one knee and proposed. It was a complete surprise! He had had a beautiful ring made for me and had been hiding it from me for a while.

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day? Feel free to elaborate about your choices and venue.

A smaller, more laid back wedding day than many you see in the Yarra Valley. Bulong Estate provided the perfect backdrop with the vines and Mt Donna Buang in the distance. We had the flexibility to set up and cater however we liked and we chose to enjoy the outdoor space with a grazing board and the beautiful Bulong Estate wines with some live music provided by the amazing Velvet Sky. Followed by a sit down dinner in the dining room served family style. We hired some lovely outdoor furniture and had festoon lighting installed so everyone could make the most of the outdoor area.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Just having all our people together in the same place. We are lucky that so many of our friends and family have travelled from all over Australia and New Zealand to be here. After 14 years together, 6 years of engagement, 2 postponed wedding dates (thanks Covid) and 2 beautiful children, we are just really excited that we are finally making this happen!

Top Tips!

Do your research, don't jump on the first venue or supplier you find but take the time to find the ones that are right for you. Once found, lock them in! You don't want to delay too long and miss out, lots of vendors are booked out a year or more in advance. Be mindful of making styling and clothing decisions too early, you might change your mind when its closer to the wedding date.
